My name is Amelia Abreu, I’m a PhD candidate at the University of Washington. My dissertation is an attempt at critical archival theory of social media. Other academic interests include classification and categorization, infrastructure, genre forms, informal labor, and representations of race, class, gender and identity within participatory and social media.
This is tumblr, so I write about things from a personal stance here. I’m of the mind that the two aren’t that separate, so I don’t think of it as off-limits or unrelated to a more formal realm. Out of both southern upbringing and concern of being googled by my students or my parents, I try to maintain a standard of decency.
