I’ve been meaning to write an essay about LaLa Vasquez-Anthony and how great her show is and how it so subtly turns the athletes-dating-reality stars thing on its ear by HUMANIZING its subjects and faceting their identities in a really not offensive way. Hasn’t happened yet.
A few weeks ago, while I couldn’t sleep, I realized that “Famous Blue Raincoat” was about dropping out of Scientology. I thought about this and about whatever I had been watching on TV and decided that I would write something called “Famous Blue Birkin”, talking about Khloe Kardashian’s sad blue Birkin that she trotted out at the beginning of the season as a metaphor for aspiration and affect, and the idea that reality TV has made fame-religions like Scientology a little passe.
For now this picture will have to do.
